iPhone 16's capacitive volume and power buttons will require two dedicated SiPs

Such SiPs for Apple will be supplied by ASE

According to early rumors, the iPhone 15 Pro smartphones were supposed to have capacitive volume and power buttons. Then it became known that Apple postponed the transition to such a solution, and it will appear in the iPhone 16 line. Now new details have appeared on this matter.

It turns out that to implement capacitive buttons, the new iPhones will receive two specialized chips at once. These will be two SiPs exclusively supplied to Apple by ASE.

ASE received a very large order and is now expanding production in preparation to begin shipping components in the third quarter. Apparently, this means that Apple will not be moving the transition to capacitive buttons a second time.
