In the summer, biometric payment will work in Kazan, and by the end of the year – in Nizhny Novgorod
By the end of 2025, it is planned to launch payment for metro travel by «with a glance» in six Russian cities. Deputy Prime Minister spoke about this at SPIEF 2024 — Chief of Staff of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Grigorenko. According to him, already in the summer of this year it will be possible to pay for the metro using biometrics in Kazan, and by the end of 2024 — in Nizhny Novgorod.
It will be possible to enter the metro using biometrics registered in the state information system «Unified Biometric System». According to Grigorenko, about 2 million Russians have now registered their biometrics in the system, and the number of users continues to grow. Earlier we wrote about the fact that «payment with a glance» will be tested in the St. Petersburg metro, and this payment method is already working in Moscow.
