Dark Souls is full of small details that aren't always obvious. Lore researchers spent a decade hunting for some pieces
The Dark Souls community has a big celebration, they managed to solve a long-standing mystery. Back in 2013, researchers found mention of a couple of messages (and their contents) that could not be found in the game itself.
In 2023, everything changed: Dark Souls fans were finally able to detect lost messages. The solution turned out to be “simple” – these messages simply do not exist in the current version of the game; they were in the release version, but then they were removed.
Fans studied the Dark Souls files for the PlayStation 3 and found that the advice message “try light” was intended for the Tomb of the Giants (a very dark location), and “try Lightning” refers to the boss Whirlwind (Pinwheel, from the Catacombs). It is unknown why FromSoftware removed them.
