Huawei Mate70 will run HarmonyOS NEXT: what does this mean?

With HarmonyOS NEXT, the company will completely abandon support for Android applications.

Huawei Mate70 series is expected to run HarmonyOS NEXT operating system and will not support Android apps. This was reported by Chinese insider Fixed Focus Digital.

Back on January 18 this year, at the Hongmeng Eco Thousand Sails Sailing Event, Huawei announced that more than 200 application manufacturers are making every effort to speed up the research and development process of Hongmeng's own applications. Huawei today announced that the number of native HarmonyOS apps has now reached 4000.

Huawei added that with overcoming the 4,000 application mark, building the HarmonyOS NEXT ecosystem has entered a new stage. According to reports, Huawei will release the commercial version of HarmonyOS NEXT to consumers in the fourth quarter of 2024. This version is currently in preview for developers worldwide.

Huawei sources said that by the end of this year the number of native HarmonyOS NEXT applications will exceed 5000. It was previously reported that after the release of HarmonyOS NEXT, the company will completely abandon support for Android applications.
