On the day of the launch of the Vision Pro headset, Apple CEO Tim Cook spoke to New York with ABC journalists. He spoke about his vision for the future of such devices.
“I think it [Apple Vision Pro] will be used in a lot of different ways because it's a spatial computer. You know, the iPhone introduced us to the mobile computer. The Mac introduced us to personal computing. This is the first spatial computer,” Cook said.
“The company has several of these. Most companies don't have them. We've had Macs, iPods, iPads, iPhones, Apple Watches, and now the Vision Pro. This is one of those moments.”
“People will interact with this in different ways. Some will connect via FaceTime. The others will train with her. Surgeons will train for it. The number of use cases is similar to a computer. This is simply colossal. There are already over 1 million apps for this.”
As for whether Vision Pro could lead to further separation of people from each other, Cook said its ability to “magnify your reality” exists to counteract that. Regarding the Vision Pro's $3,500 price tag, Cook emphasized that it is “the technology of tomorrow, today.”
