They want to deliver it to the Moon by 2035
Roscosmos General Director Yuri Borisov said that the development of a nuclear power plant for the lunar station has already begun. Earlier, Borisov noted that a compact, reliable and durable source of nuclear energy on the Moon is necessary, since the lunar night lasts about 14 Earth days and solar batteries cannot accumulate the amount of energy necessary to operate during this entire time.
Russia plans to develop the International Scientific Lunar Station project jointly with China; it will be deployed in two stages from 2025 to 2035. The station will consist of several modules and will have the possibility of long-term unmanned operation with the prospect of human presence. The possibility of delivering and installing a nuclear power plant on the lunar surface in 2033–2035 is being considered.
