It is available in Fold5 and S24 Ultra
Samsung's flagships may soon receive a car accident detection function.
Interestingly, these are not rumors or leaks. An indication of this was discovered quite accidentally by one of the authors of the Android Police portal. He was experimenting with the Tasker app on his Galaxy Z Fold5 foldable smartphone. In particular, using Tasker, he read data from the device’s sensors. And at one point he received a list of sensors, where, among others, a sensor with a description of Car Crash Detect Wakeup was indicated.
Additional experiments showed that a similar sensor is also in the Galaxy S24 Ultra, but it is not in the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
So, this is clearly not something that has been present in Samsung smartphones for a very long time, but for some reason is not used. However, it is still completely unclear when the corresponding function will appear on Samsung smartphones, given that Fold5 was released six months ago.
Recall that the accident detection function has been available in the iPhone since the iPhone 14, and in Google devices it generally appeared with the Pixel 4.
