“Mini-Gelik” will only be similar in appearance to the full-size Mercedes-Benz G-Class
The British resource Autocar provided details about the future of the Mercedes-Benz g-Class – small G-class. Such a car will appear only in 2026 and will look like a real Gelendvagen. only externally.
Mercedes-Benz technical director Markus Schäfer said that the g-Class will be built on the MMA platform, which will be used in the CLA sedan. Accordingly, there will be no frame body. Moreover, the power plant will be exclusively electric: presumably, the g-Class will receive a new 800-volt electrical system with traction batteries up to 85 kW·h.
Mercedes-Benz g-Class, despite the monocoque body, will retain good off-road capabilities like the older model (all-wheel drive will be available). But in terms of design, the g-Class will be very similar to the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
Total in 2026 the line of «Gelendvagen» will be presented in three models: full-size petrol (G-Class) and electric (EQG), as well as a compact electric (g-Class).
