The flagship will retain the 3.5 mm jack

Sony usually unveils its flagship smartphones, the Xperia 1 series, around the second quarter of every year. The Xperia 1 VI is expected to be unveiled soon, with details leaked by a Zackbuks insider.

The Xperia 1 VI is expected to feature a 2K display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, which is different from the 4K display with a 21:9 aspect ratio of its predecessors. Sony has previously used such a high-resolution display in its flagships.

However, this aspect ratio also has its drawbacks: black bars appear on the top and bottom edges of the screen, since most videos and applications are optimized to work with the 19 : 9 aspect ratio.

Now the informant has added that the phone will measure 162 × 74.4 × 8.45 mm, and the display dimensions — 149.6 × 69.4 mm. The predecessor has dimensions of 165 × 71 × 8.3mm, meaning the Xperia 1 VI will be 3mm shorter, 3.4mm wider and 1.45mm thicker.

The new smartphone is expected to retain the 3.5mm jack, which has become a rarity among modern flagship smartphones.

Zackbuks published details about the characteristics of the Sony Xperia 1 III, Sony Xperia 1 IV and Sony Xperia 1 V before their release, and also posted the first photos taken on the cameras of these smartphones.
