The 5nm Kirin 9006C SoC in the Huawei laptop is more than half the size of the Apple M1. The first test results have appeared

Only in Geekbench for now

The Kirin 9006C single-chip system, which formed the basis of the Huawei Qingyun L540 laptop, as tests show, has rather modest performance by today's standards.

In Geekbench 6, the platform scores 1229 and 3577 points in single-threaded and multi-threaded modes, respectively. This matches the performance of the original Kirin 9000, which was installed in Huawei smartphones several years ago, so, probably, as we expected, the Kirin 9006C — this is just a renamed Kirin 9000. Let us remind you that yesterday we learned that the Kirin 9006C is not produced by the Chinese SMIC, but by the Taiwanese TSMC, which means that SMIC has not yet mastered the 5 nm process technology.

If we compare the performance of the Kirin 9006C with other mobile processors, then, for example, the Apple M1 scores about 2400 and 8500 points, but the performance of the quad-core Ryzen 5 7520U is approximately the same as the Kirin 9006C. However, Geekbench is rather weak in reflecting actual performance in applications.
