First image of the new Volkswagen Golf Mk8.5 – it will be the last Golf with a petrol engine

The official premiere will take place in early 2024

Volkswagen posted a video dedicated to the results of work in 2023. At the very end of the video, the head of the company, Thomas Schafer, presented one of the future new products – restyled Volkswagen Golf.

The design was not released ahead of time, so the image only demonstrates the front lighting technology well: there will be an LED strip connecting the headlights (their graphics will change), as well as an illuminated logo. The roof rails make it clear that a station wagon was involved in the shooting.

The official premiere of the updated Volkswagen Golf Mk8.5 is expected in early 2024. And it will be the last Golf with internal combustion engines: the Volkswagen Golf Mk9 is scheduled for 2028, and it will be a pure electric car. Although it is possible that for some time the petrol Golf Mk8.5 will be sold in parallel with the electric Golf Mk9. But from 2033, Volkswagen will produce exclusively electric cars in Europe.

No innovations in terms of engines are expected from the Volkswagen Golf Mk8.5. In terms of the exterior, only the front part will change, perhaps the rear part will be retouched a little. The interior will be made in the spirit of the new Volkswagen Tiguan and Passat.
