FAS filed a case against Alfa-Bank for advertising a debit card

The bank faces a fine

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia opened a case against «Alfa-Bank» on signs of violations in debit card advertising. The press service of the department spoke about this. 

The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia received complaints from citizens about advertising a debit card from «Alfa-Bank» on TV channels «First», «TNT» and «Friday», as well as on the radio station «Russian Radio». The advertisement contained the following statements: “Alfa-Bank was the first in Russia to cancel all commissions for transfers and payments. Order a free debit Alpha Card». 

Information about the significant limitations of such conditions was posted in a way that was inaccessible to perception. The FAS explained:

The bank's actions may mislead consumers and contain signs of violation of the Law «On Advertising». FAS Russia opened a case against JSC «Alfa-Bank». If found guilty, the organization faces a fine.

We would like to remind you that previously the FAS initiated proceedings against the bank for violations in advertising of mortgages, consumer loans, credit and debit cards, deposits, as well as for indicating false information about the acquiring fee in advertising.
