All due to overstocking of warehouses
According to information received from market participants, discounts on new cars from Russian dealers can currently reach a third of a million rubles.
Basically, such discounts are provided for those cars that for some reason remained unsold and were delivered in 2023. Some car dealers are already offering potential buyers significant discounts, exceeding 100 thousand rubles and in some cases even reaching 300 thousand rubles, as reported by Kommersant.
General Director of the analytical agency Vector Market Research, Dmitry Chumakov, expresses the opinion that the decline in car prices in Russia will continue for a long time. He notes that this is due to the reformatting of the market, which, in his opinion, is already coming to an end. In his comments, he states that discounts are actively provided on cars 2023 model year.
It was previously reported that by January 2024, large Russian car dealers had accumulated the maximum inventories of cars over the past two years. For example, in the warehouses of the company «Rolf» 4520 vehicles have been accumulated, which exceeds the averages for 2022 and 2023 (4266 and 4339, respectively).
This phenomenon is associated with the strategy of Chinese brands, which involves maximum loading of dealer inventories in the fourth quarter of last year.
