It will compete with the Toyota Century
The Tank brand, owned by Great Wall Motors, first showed the flagship SUV Tank 800 in 2021, and since then the company has not officially said when the full premiere of the car will take place. The silence has now been broken: at the recent Great Wall Motors annual shareholder meeting, Li Ruifeng, Great Wall Motors' chief development officer, announced that the Tank 800 will be released at the end of this year.
The Tank 800 was unveiled at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show as «the pinnacle of luxury SUVs in China». It is aimed at competing with other luxury SUVs like the Toyota Century.
The design of the production vehicle will be different from the prototype shown in these pictures. According to preliminary data, the Tank 800 will receive a hybrid power plant based on a 3.0-liter V6 turbo engine. The system will also include a 9-speed automatic transmission, and the total power will be 516 hp.
