Changan Hunter is the world's first pickup truck with a sequential hybrid powertrain, and Hunter Journey is the first motorhome based on this pickup truck
At a tuning exhibition in the Chinese city of Shenzhen, Changan presented a special version of its newest Hunter pickup truck. The car is called Hunter Journey and is a full-fledged motorhome on an off-road chassis. The concept is interesting, and most importantly — not very expensive: approximate price of the car — 44.5 thousand dollars.
Feature Hunter Journey — the presence of a large tent in the back; it is raised and lowered electrically. Dimensions of the car with the tent folded — 5560 × 2110 × 2090 mm. If you raise it, then the height of the residential module is 1950 mm — You can stand without bending down. Curb weight of the car — 2550 kg, maximum — 2895 kg. Anyone can drive this motorhome — Category B is sufficient.
Unlike campers built on the basis of minibuses, there is a decent ground clearance of 215 mm, as well as approach and departure angles — 29° and 17°. You can’t hope to conquer serious off-road terrain, but such a car can handle light terrain quite well.
The motorhome is built on the basis of a two-row cabin, so it can carry five people. There are two beds in the residential module: one measuring 2000 x 1000 mm, the other — 2000 x 1850. Equipment: split system, hairdryer, 1 kW induction hob, microwave oven, 50 l refrigerator, sink, 2 kW storage water heater. There is even a separate bathroom with ventilation and a dry closet. The standard equipment includes a 100 liter tank for clean water and a 50 liter tank for «gray» water.
There are storage spaces both inside and on the rear side of the living module (the rear three-section module is an optional extra). The standard equipment of the Hunter Journey includes an awning awning that extends from one side (180°), and in the top version the awning covers two thirds of the car (270°) — right side and back.
In the equipment of a pickup truck — two 12.3-inch screens, an LTE modem for organizing a mobile Wi-Fi network and 40 W wireless charging for a smartphone.
The Hunter Journey's powertrain is the same as the standard pickup: a 2.0-liter turbo engine producing 190 hp. combined with two electric motors with a total power of 272 hp. The capacity of the traction battery is 31.18 kW·h, the range is on pure electricity — 180 km, maximum range — 1031 km (according to measurements using the CLTC method).
