In 1998, Smart introduced the first fortwo model. In honor of Smart's 25th anniversary, a special version #3 will be released on January 19th. It will be sold in Europe at a price of 46,990 euros.
Following a brand refresh (now an all-electric brand), Smart has achieved its goal of delivering nearly 70,000 units worldwide by 2023. Most of this volume was sold in China. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Smart has unveiled its third anniversary edition «Starry Sky Commemorative Edition».
The Anniversary Edition boasts upgraded sporting elements such as a blacked-out logo, slim air vents, a bumper with a red grille, a rear spoiler and 19-inch wheels. The interior features red accents, a steering wheel with a cut-off lower part, a panoramic Galaxy roof, and 64-color ambient lighting.
The car has a rear engine with a power of 271 hp, a power reserve of 580 km and can accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.
Smart was previously owned by Mercedes and Swatch. In 2019, Smart became a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Geely. Smart #3 is based on Geely's SEA platform, like Smart #1, Volvo EX30 and Zeekr X.
The current Smart lineup consists of two vehicles: Smart #1 and Smart #3. In November 2023, Smart #1 was included in the list of candidates for «European Car of the Year 2024».
