The newest BYD Seagull 2024 recently passed rigorous testing by the Automobile Evaluation Management Center of China Automotive Center
This testing not only confirms the safety of the BYD Seagull, but also provides more information about how the vehicle's range and charging perform under different temperature conditions.
As Autohome writes, BYD Seagull received a 3A quality rating in the test with an average score of 92.2%. The score consists of three elements: user safety, which scored 91.8%, battery charging time, 90.3%, and crash safety, which scored 94.5%. Safety of use is assessed according to five criteria. First of all, BYD Seagull is 100% safe when charging, the braking distance from 80 km/h on wet roads is 34.1 meters.
Tests were also carried out to measure the range at different temperatures. The BYD Seagull has a rated range of 405 km on the CLTC cycle. However, tests showed that at 23°C this figure was reduced to 394 km. At low temperatures, the losses were much greater: the car showed a range of 243 km at -7°C, and the AC charging rate at this temperature was 6.98 kW/h.
Crash safety scores allowed BYD Seagull to score 78.79%, 100% and 87.10% respectively in tests for different types of crashes.
Since the launch of BYD Seagull last year, the car has become the brand's best seller. The 2024 version was released on March 6th and comes in three variants ranging from $9,700 to $11,950.
Chinese-made BYD models shipped to Europe, the Middle East and South Asia were previously reported to be suffering from quality issues.
