Perhaps it will be bought by a Russian company
It became known that the St. Petersburg automobile plant of the South Korean concern Hyundai (Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus LLC, HMMR) has extended its downtime until the end of this year. As journalists were told at the Employment Center of St. Petersburg, the plant will be idle until December 31; currently 502 employees are in this mode – this is approximately half of the plant's staff.
The Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg suspended the production of cars from March 1, 2022 due to difficulties with the supply of components; until this point, it produced the Hyundai Solaris, Hyundai Creta, Kia Rio and Kia Rio X-Line models. In September of this year, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov, reported that the car plant would be acquired by a Russian company in the near future.
As we wrote at the end of November, an auto expert and host of the Telegram channel “Russian Automobile” believes that the enterprise will go to the Avilon company, which previously bought the Russian Volkswagen plant. In his opinion, the deal to purchase the plant should be closed within the next month, and the launch of production could begin at the end of January.
