Case sent to court

BYD's legal department announced that the company has filed a lawsuit against a blogger who stated that «the fuel consumption of the BYD Leopard 5 when driving on the highway was 18 liters per 100 km». The company is demanding a public apology and more than $700,000 in damages.

On November 28, 2023, auto blogger Yao Qiang published a video with a test drive of the BYD Leopard 5, in which he stated that the car really turned out to be very voracious. We reported details about this earlier.

In the video, many noticed that the author of the review violated traffic rules and accelerated to speeds of more than 180 km/h, in addition, he regularly accelerated and braked very sharply.

BYD stated that Yao Qiang's abnormal driving behavior has caused serious damage to the reputation of the BYD brand and the Leopard 5 model as a whole, so they are now seeking compensation through the courts.
