As Reuters writes, the head of Tesla and SpaceX, Musk, said that he opposes the US imposing increased taxes on Chinese electric cars.

Musk said literally the following: «Neither Tesla nor I asked for these taxes. In fact, I was surprised when this news was published. Things like that that impede free trade or distort the market are very bad. The billionaire added that Tesla competes quite well in the Chinese market.

After Tesla released its 2023 financial report in January this year, Musk said that Chinese automakers are the most competitive in the world and will achieve huge profits outside their home country. «Honestly, if there were no trade barriers, they would easily beat most other car companies in the world. They're pretty good»,— Musk said.

Musk added that he sees no clear opportunity to work with Chinese automakers unless they are allowed to use the Tesla Supercharger network or license Tesla's self-driving technology.

Previously it became known that in the USA the tax on Chinese cars was raised fourfold, on solar panels — doubled for steel and aluminum — more than tripled.
