The iGBA emulator became one of the first such programs that Apple allowed on its App Store.

The iGBA emulator, which allows you to run games from the once popular gaming devices Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance, appeared on the App Store on April 14, and then disappeared from it literally a few hours later.

According to MacRumors, the app was removed due to copyright infringement and spam. iGBA turned out to be a simple copy of the GBA4iOS program created many years ago.

The creator of GBA4iOS, Riley Testut, in a conversation with journalists, confirmed that he did not give permission to use his works.

The Verge was able to talk to iGBA creator Mattia La Spina, who assured reporters that he had contacted Testut, but did not specify whether he used the GBA4iOS code.

Reddit users noted that iGBA for some reason is actively collecting information about users, including location and other identifiers.

Not so long ago, Apple approved the appearance of emulators in the App Store, but only on the condition that they will not violate the copyrights of others. The company did not comment on the removal of iGBA.
