All because of too much mass of coolers
GeForce RTX 4090 video cards still end up in service centers en masse due to problems with the power connector. It turned out that this is not the only reason.
Northwest Repair specialists said that from time to time an RTX 4090 is brought to their workshop with a completely different problem. The point is that the GPU can be partially detached from the printed circuit board. The reason here is quite simple — Some modern video cards are too heavy. Damage can occur both during operation if the card sags too much due to its own weight, and during transportation if the adapter is not well packed.
It is possible to repair such an adapter, but, firstly, it will not be cheap, and secondly, it is not always possible to revive the card.
Of course, the problem is not specifically related to the RTX 4090 GPU, it’s just that these cards are more often equipped with the largest and heaviest cooling systems. However, the source only talks about RTX 4090.
