It looks like AMD may soon make the AM5 platform much more attractive to enthusiasts. It is reported that Epyc server processors may be released for AM5.
The line will supposedly be called Epyc 4004 Raphael. Such processors are expected to not be able to work in multi-socket configurations. There are no technical details, but it is also reported that such CPUs may be available with 3D V-Cache cache memory.
AMD has not previously released server Epycs for conventional consumer platforms, so one can only guess whether the new CPUs will be compatible with existing motherboards, or whether a special chipset will be released for them. It is possible that sometime in the future such processors will take the place of Intel Xeon LGA2011 in the secondary market as very cheap and quite powerful CPUs.
