It can be used in a wide variety of industries
A robot-gingerbread man has been created in Russia. in the shape of a ball, which protects it from getting stuck and turning over.
The development can be effectively used in the civilian sphere — in the film industry, when examining destroyed buildings and in other areas, according to the authors of the project.
The body is made of plastic using 3D printing technology, the robot is equipped with a four-camera system that provides a comprehensive view. The robot can move independently in space.
«Roboball will be able to move and transmit video images from any of the installed cameras. To transmit video images and control the robot, wireless communication is used through low-frequency transmitters, guaranteeing a high transmission range. A gadget that is thrown into a room, for example, will be able to transmit information about the number of opponents, weapons and listen to their conversations, — said the developers, who added that a special printed circuit board was created for the robot.
«The spherical robot represents a unique solution in terms of ergonomics. Most of the ball is movable, which significantly increases its maneuverability and ability to overcome obstacles, and also protects it from turning over or getting stuck in hard-to-reach places. In addition, its design allows you to easily add new sensors and cameras to the device, making it extremely adaptable and versatile for various tasks and application scenarios», — said the author of the project, engineer at the Faculty of Control Systems and Robotics at ITMO University Viktor Zhdanov.
