Up to 66 million units
The PC market seems to be starting to revive. According to analysts at Jon Peddie Research, processor shipments in the fourth quarter of 2023 grew year-on-year by an impressive 22%.
In total, 66 million CPUs were delivered during the quarter, which is 7% more than the previous quarter. Laptop processors continue to increase their share: they now account for 70% of all consumer CPU shipments. The share of desktops, accordingly, decreased to 30%.
Supplies of iGPUs, that is, processors with an integrated graphics core, increased by 18%, to 60 million units. Source analysts expect that within the next five years, 98% of all consumer PCs will be equipped with iGPUs.
The iGPU market is expectedly dominated by Intel with a share of 84%, while a year ago the company’s share was 87%, but a quarter earlier it was 81%.
