“Notes” are added not by the author, but by the audience
Google has begun testing a new experimental feature on YouTube that will allow viewers to add «Notes» to provide more context and information under videos.
The YouTube team explained that «Notes» can be used for clarification when the song is intended to be a parody, or to inform viewers if old footage is showing a current event.
To start, the pilot will be available on mobile devices in the US in English. As part of testing, a limited number of users are asked to write notes on videos. Viewers in the US will begin to see video notes in the coming weeks.
