It is much slower than the younger Core i3
Intel at the beginning of the month introduced the second half of the Raptor Lake Refresh processor line. Among other things, there was a junior CPU Intel Processor 300. And now its test appeared on the Internet.
Processor 300 — this is actually a Pentium, but, as we know, Intel abandoned this brand. This CPU has only two cores, but they are large ones. The frequency is 3.9 GHz, TDP — 46 W. In fact, this is a Pentium G7400 from the Alder Lake line, but with a frequency 200 MHz higher.
The relationship is also confirmed by tests. The two processors are very close, but the new one is often a little faster.
The important thing is that the Processor 300, like the Pentium G7400 in its time, is very far behind even the youngest Core i3. In Cinebench 2024, the quad-core Core i3-14100 is more than twice as fast. True, it is noticeably more expensive: $134 versus $82.
Can the Processor 300 be called very slow? For example, the quad-core Core i3-9100 is noticeably slower in single-threaded mode, but slightly faster in multi-threaded mode, and this with higher consumption and twice the number of cores.
