V Cinebench R23
Motherboard manufacturers have begun releasing BIOS updates that bring the Intel Baseline Profile. It is needed to reduce the consumption of top-end Intel Core CPUs and save them from problems in applications and games. Tests of the Core i9-13900KF have shown that when this profile is activated, the top-end processor of the previous generation actually turns into a Core i7.
If in the case of Asus boards and CPU Core i9-14900K we were talking about a decrease in performance by 8-10%, then the Core i9-13900KF on the Gigabyte motherboard in Cinebench R23 showed a decrease in multi-threaded performance by 28%: from approximately 40,000 points to 28 800!
Why the numbers dropped so much is not very clear, but perhaps the power limitation in this case is very large.
In games, the drop varies in the range of 3-10%, which is far from catastrophic.
Recall that top processors, mainly Core i9 of the current and previous generations, have begun to suffer from various problems in recent months, mainly in games on the Unreal Engine. But problems are also observed in various applications under heavy load. Considering that the 13th generation Core has been on the market for more than a year, it is not very clear why people started talking about this only now, but, as we see, the problem is so great that Intel had to significantly reduce the performance of its CPUs.
