Another indicator that the thread scheduler is very important for modern Intel CPUs. The company has released a patch for Linux that improves performance

Up to 14%

Heterogeneous Intel processors rely heavily on the efficiency of thread schedulers. An excellent example of this — Intel CPU performance in Linux increased by 14% after the release of the new patch.

Intel has released a patch that improves the performance of the Thread Director thread scheduler. The company itself speaks of an increase of 14%, albeit in 3DMark. Generally speaking, the increase varied from 3% to 14% depending on the task. It’s also worth saying that the patch concerns not just the operation of Intel processors in Linux, but specifically virtualization technology.

Given this background, it may seem strange that Intel emphasized 3DMark, but the company explained it.

We have a use case for running games on a Windows client virtual machine as a cloud gaming solution

Simply put, the patch can be very useful for providers of cloud gaming services, which are gradually gaining more and more popularity.
