The platform will receive eight Taishan V130 cores and a Mali-920 GPU
If we talk about processors, Huawei is primarily known for its Kirin SoC for smartphones. But it also has chips for other segments. Huawei is reportedly set to release a processor for PCs.
It doesn’t have a name yet, but insider Fixed Focus Digital says that the CPU performance will supposedly be close to the Apple M3, and the GPU — to M2. The SoC will receive eight Taishan V130 cores and a Mali-920 GPU.
The new product is expected to appear in September. Let's remember that Intel's permission to supply processors to Huawei is about to expire, and it is very likely that the new US government will not issue it. So Huawei will need something to replace the Intel CPU.
Huawei is going to circumvent US sanctions here too. The company will set up its own production of HBM memory
The question is that modern technical processes are not available to Huawei. Using the Kirin 9010 as an example, we already know that it is very far from modern SoCs, but here there is supposedly a comparison with the Apple M3, which is generally the only one in this segment produced using a 3-nanometer technical process.
It is quite possible that the new Kirin platform for PC will be produced at 5 nm standards at SMIC facilities, but it will still be far from the same as what TSMC produced using the same technical process.
Previously, Fixed Focus Digital shared details regarding the computer version of the HarmonyOS operating system, which is due out in 2024, leaked photos of the new iPhone SE4 and renderings of Huawei Pocket 2, and also stated that Apple has stopped working on the foldable iPhone.
