Upgrade costs $112

Honda has announced plans to offer a dealer-installed software update for the Honda Accord that will bring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support to models not originally equipped with the feature. The upgrade is available for 2018 through 2022 Accord models and will cost $112 plus service fee.

The update is available for any 2018–2022 Accord that came equipped with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from the factory. Honda estimates there are about 631,000 Accords in the United States.

This software update comes as Honda and its closest competitor Toyota are introducing new certified pre-owned programs that offer warranties for vehicles up to 10 years old and up to 200,000 km.

Honda says the software update can now be installed at any authorized dealer.
