Samsung will introduce petabyte-level SSD subscription on March 18

It will be focused on the server segment

Samsung is going to present its new product at the GTC 2024 event — SSD by subscription.

The service will be focused not on the consumer segment, but on the server segment. Samsung will offer its customers a subscription to use ultra-high-capacity solid-state server drives, which will allow these same customers not to buy expensive devices, but to rent them as needed. Samsung emphasizes that this approach will allow its customers to save on maintenance costs and reduce the initial investment costs of storage infrastructure.

Apparently, the subscription will apply to new SSDs, which will also be presented at the exhibition. These are some petabyte-level drives, but there is no exact data on their volume. In what form this subscription will be offered and how much it will cost is still unclear, but GTC 2024 starts tomorrow.
