And the Qualcomm platform is half the price
Internal Dell documents comparing XPS 13 laptops based on Intel processors and the latest Snapdragon X SoC have leaked online.
After the announcement of new Qualcomm platforms, there was evidence that not everything was in order with power consumption, however, according to Dell’s internal testing, the autonomy of the version on Snapdragon X is 68-98% higher than that of the version on Intel CPU.
To be more precise, the comparison is between the Qualcomm SC8380XP SoC (apparently this is the top-end X Elite) and a certain Core i7 CPU from the Alder Lake-P line. That is, you need to understand that when compared with the latest Core Ultra or Ryzen 7000/8000, the advantage of the Qualcomm solution will no longer be so noticeable.
Another potential advantage of the Arm version — price. At a minimum, Dell itself states that the Core i7-1360P costs $293, and the Qualcomm platform with a 10-core CPU — $145. That is, the difference is double, although here, of course, in the context of the entire PC, it is more correct to talk about an absolute difference of about $150. There is even a planned price for the XPS 13 Plus with Snapdragon SoC — $1200
