You need to keep this in mind when buying a RAV4 from China
On the Chinese platform Car Quality Network, complaints from at least a dozen Toyota RAV4 owners appeared: car enthusiasts are unhappy that the cars are rusting. And we are not talking about cars that are 5 or even 10 years old – Crossovers purchased in 2022 and 2023 are rusting.
We are mainly talking about cars with a volume of 2.0 liters (there are fewer complaints about cars with a 2.5-liter engine), but this is explained by the fact that such cars are cheaper and therefore more common. In addition, the engine does not in any way affect the quality of the body assembly.
Judging by the photos published by one of the RAV4 owners, the doors rust mainly in the corners, as well as in places where there are screws and rivets. Water often lingers in such places and, if body panels are poorly treated (painting, priming), rust appears.
At the moment FAW Toyota – joint venture producing Toyota RAV4 for the local market, – did not comment on the situation.
