There will be at least eight platforms
Qualcomm will release the Snapdragon X Elite SoC for Windows laptops this year, possibly giving a second boost to Arm and Windows PCs. It turned out that there was not just one platform waiting for us, but a whole line. More precisely, even two.
The names were found in the display driver. The platforms will be divided into the Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus lines. Judging by the nomenclature, the first one will be older.
So far, eight single-chip systems are known — four in each line:
- Snapdragon X Elite X1E80100
- Snapdragon X Elite X1E78100
- Snapdragon X Elite X1E76100
- Snapdragon X Elite X1E84100
- Snapdragon X Plus X1P62100
- Snapdragon X Plus X1P64100
- Snapdragon X Plus X1P56100
- Snapdragon X Plus X1P40100
These are catalog numbers, but there are no serial names yet. Technical details are also minimal, but it is known that the Snapdragon X Elite X1E80100 will have 12 processor cores (8+4) with a frequency of 4.3 GHz. This configuration will be the maximum for the X Elite, but the X1E84100, judging by its name, will have some advantage over the X1E80100. Possibly higher frequency.
It’s hard to say what the new products will be capable of. The first tests show that the top SoC, at least in benchmarks, can compete with the Apple M2 and modern Ryzen mobile processors, but everything will depend on the optimization of Windows and software for Arm.
