Russian studio NoName Company probably stole to develop tactical shooter Best in Hell about PMC “Wagner” models of SBU fighters created by a Ukrainian developer.

DOW told about this.

The author of the assets is Bogdan Zhukov, 3D Character Artist at Frag Lab. The artist created models of soldiers, which he showed on his page on ArtStation. Previously, these assets were used by Alireza Fattahi, Cinematic Animation Director, to create a realistic movie with a battle scene.

Bogdan noticed in the trailer that NoName Company used his work.

“If you sit down, you can make a proof for every asset that is in the game that their work is not there. The only thing they could do was replace the chevrons on the soldiers. And that’s it!», said the author.

It is characteristic that the Russians chose the model of the SBU fighter in the multicam, removing only Ukrainian symbols.

How exactly the assets got into NoName Company is an open question. They could purchase them on CG Trader, where the author posted them. However, there is a high probability that the Russians simply stole the models, because the work had already been leaked to one of the pirated resources.

Bogdan tried to contact NoName Company with a demand not to use his assets. In response he received this:

According to Bogdan, he will try to revoke the license if he receives the necessary information about the purchase. Without it, Best in Hell will never make it to Steam. However, the Russians plan to publish only through their VK Play, where they are unlikely to worry about copyrights.

“If I knew from which email they bought assets, if at all, I would ask Epic support to revoke the license, but this is useless, because even if support goes to meeting, then the Russians don’t care. The files will remain, but no one has heard of copyright there. As the developers write, they will be released on their VK Play, but there is no DMCA there,” added Bogdan.

At the same time, Best in Hell continues to be promoted by propagandists on Russian television.

The Best in Hell project promises to demonstrate the battles for Popasnaya, and one of the characters will be Evgeniy Prigozhin.
