Aaron Nielsen, who worked on pirate action and Warcraft 3: Reforged, said he just wanted to do something special for the love of his life

Game designer Aaron Nielsen, who worked on Warcraft 3: Reforged and Sea of Thieves, proposed to his sweetheart using the Playdate portable console.

Nielsen used the Pulp editor to work on a project that was originally planned as a regular platformer, but then turned into a letter delivery arcade game called Love Letter.

“After a few playtests, I decided to move on to an arcade experience based on trying to earn as many points as possible,” shared Nielsen.

In the final version of Nielsen's arcade game, the player must try to deliver as many letter letters as possible before the timer runs out.

“At the end of the game, a sentence was assembled from the collected letters: “Will you marry me?” – and then I had to get down on my knee. Oh, and don't worry, if she had chosen “no”, the game would have clarified: “Are you sure?”. The question would then loop! Ha-ha”, —says the romantic.
