The new report provides gaming revenue data from 1970 to 2022. The results of more than 50 years are summed up, and it turns out that the PC platform completely dominates the industry.
Through 2022, the total PC market revenue was $45 billion, surpassing the total console revenue for the same time period. All consoles combined generated $30 billion in revenue over 50 years.
Steam made the largest contribution to income. The store was launched in 2003 by Valve and has become a fan favorite platform on PC. With over 120 million active players, Steam is estimated to have generated over $8.6 billion in revenue.
On the other hand, mobile gaming revenue was $101 billion, which explains why companies like PlayStation and Xbox are so interested in developing this market.
