The premiere will take place in two weeks
Mazda6 is no longer produced in Russia; in January of this year, Mazda announced the winding down of production in Japan (it should stop one of these days — in mid-April), but this does not mean that the model dead: within the next two weeks the new Mazda6 will be presented in China!
The most interesting thing: the car will be built on a new platform jointly developed by Mazda and Changan (at the moment the car is coded J90A). It is noted that Mazda was responsible for the design and fine-tuning of the chassis, everything else — on Changan's conscience.
The teaser shows the sedan under a blanket, the premiere is promised «soon». According to the resource Bitauto.com, the new Mazda6 will debut at the Beijing Auto Show (it opens on April 25) under the name Mazda EZ-6. That is, it will be an electric car.
The names are not taken out of thin air: Mazda previously filed patents for the designations Mazda EZ-6 and Mazda EZ-60. But this model may appear not only in China, but also in Europe: in March it became known that the company had filed a patent for the name Mazda 6e with the European Union Intellectual Property Office.
Last year, information appeared that Mazda was preparing a completely new Mazda6 with basic rear-wheel drive and engines from the flagship crossovers CX-90 and CX-80 (in the title picture). The car will be aimed at the North American market, its release is expected in 2025.
