Valve doesn't have many employees, but the company has achieved a lot. One day, one employee became interested in calculating efficiency and was surprised by the result

Valve is sometimes sued, which sometimes results in the publication of remarkable documents.

The proceedings continue between Valve and Wolfire Games, which accuses the company of monopolizing the PC market.

As a result of the publication of documents, material dedicated to measuring Valve’s commercial effectiveness (which was carried out by the company itself) was leaked online. It turned out that according to one of the metrics, Valve is ahead of well-known IT giants – Google, Microsoft and Apple are left behind.

A few years ago, a Valve employee saw a publication that presented the income per hour of the largest IT companies. He became interested in trying to see how Valve looked against their background: he took several colleagues and began to figure it out.

As a metric for comparison, he decided to take “efficiency” (net profit from one company employee). As a result of the calculations, Valve was in first place, Facebook was in second* and Apple closed the top three.
