One point was missing in the “child seat” category
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently announced the latest crash test results, confirming that the 2024 Tesla Model Y received the IIHS's top safety rating of Top Safety Pick+ and passed the crash test with near-perfect ratings.
In the IIHS crash test, the Tesla Model Y 2024 crossover scored the highest scores on almost all points of the test. The car only failed to achieve the highest score in the “child seat” category. This is also the only point that reduces the overall rating of the Tesla Model Y 2024.
As previously reported, there are currently 22 Top Safety Pick+ models and 49 Top Safety Pick vehicles identified for 2024.
Next year, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety will make it harder to earn the Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ badges.
