Geoff Kiely was criticized on social media for giving TGA winners just a minute to share their joy, while his friend Hideo Kojima talked about nothing for almost 10 minutes

The head of the Larian studio and the head of development of Baldur’s Gate 3, Sven Vincke, posted on his page on X (once Twitter) the full version of his speech, which the organizers of The Game Awards did not allow him to give.

Wincke noted that it was a great honor for him and the entire Larian team to take home the Game of the Year statuette, and congratulated all the other nominees who also deserved recognition.

“I wore the armor to The Game Awards because BG3 couldn't exist without ours and I wanted to celebrate how much we made them We appreciate it. Our BG3 community is really cool.”

“Only an exceptionally talented team could have developed a game like this, and I’m very lucky to have them. They are the best and did an amazing job.”

“There are over 2000 people listed in the credits, and since I I can’t name everyone, I want to focus on a group of people who don’t always get the recognition they deserve,” he continued.

“I want to dedicate this award to the friends and family we lost during development, including Jim, our lead animator, who passed away last month , and personally to my father, who passed away a week before we launched our early access campaign.”.

Vincke concluded that Games have been and remain a special form of art, no less important than books, music or films.

“Games are a unique art form, as important as books, music or movies. Many developers, myself included, make games because they love watching people interact with their creations. In a way that is impossible to interact with anything else. Money is not that important to them. They treat them more like “fuel” that is needed to create new and cooler games. But it is important to remember that fuel is a means, not an end.”
