BYD conducted an entire investigation to show that the blogger accelerated and decelerated sharply, but not a word about tractor consumption

We have already written many times about the latest BYD Leopard 5 SUV – this interesting car, a competitor to the G-Class and Land Cruiser, has just entered the Chinese market, but has already been involved in a big scandal.

One of the local celebrities took the car for a test and drove it thoroughly. Along the way, during the test it turned out that the hybrid turned out to be somehow not very economical – consumption was 18 l/100 km. True, the movement mode was not laminar.

After the blogger told the whole truth about the car, BYD was very offended by him. The company conducted an entire investigation and recently published its results. BYD (specifically representatives of the Leopard sub-brand) stated that “ the driver of the vehicle accelerated and braked sharply, this posed a serious threat to public safety and could harm the public interest .” Leopard added that the company ” fulfills its legal obligations under the law, accepts social responsibility, cooperates with traffic police investigations, protects the public interest and maintains legal integrity .”

What emerged during the investigation? For example, that the car exceeded the speed of 180 km/h for three periods of time and exceeded the speed of 170 km/h for six periods of time.

During the entire “high-speed driving process,” the car moved at a speed of 120-140 km/h for 37% of the trip, at a speed of 140-160 km/h for 46% of the trip, and at 160 km/h for 4% of the trip. They also say something about abnormal parking times. And not a word about consumption. The company also did not answer the logical question of how the speed could exceed 180 km/h for a certain period of time if the limiter is triggered at 180 km/h.

In general, the story turned out to be somewhat ugly. Of course, no one justifies the blogger’s recklessness, but the company, instead of answering awkward questions regarding fuel consumption and speed limits, simply decided to punish the person.

Let us remind you that the Leopard 5 hybrid power plant consists of a 1.5-liter engine with a power of 184 hp, which mainly charges the traction battery, and two electric motors with a peak power of 659 hp. BYD Leopard 5 accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.
