Losses are relatively small
The head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, Vitaly Savelyev, reported the exact number of aircraft that Russia lost due to sanctions.
“ We were unexpectedly taken by surprise then with decisions to take away the planes. In total, we lost 76 passenger ships ,” he said.
These are relatively small losses, but if the United States had not started issuing special permits to leasing companies for the purchase of aircraft by Russian air carriers (the Aeroflot group is now actively engaged in this), the reduction of the fleet would have been more serious.
Earlier, the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency, Dmitry Yadrov, said that Russian airlines will receive 1,800 domestic aircraft and helicopters by 2030. Of these, 270 are the latest medium-range MS-21.
Currently, the fleets of Russia's largest airlines consist primarily of Airbus and Boeing aircraft. The first deliveries of import-substituted MS-21 and SJ-100 are planned for 2024.
