The production of Jetour T2 crossovers, a new model of the Chinese car brand Jetour, owned by the Chery concern, will be launched in Kazakhstan. The assembly will be carried out by the Kazakh plant «SaryarkaAvtoProm».
Jetour T2 is positioned as a competitor to the popular Haval Dargo and Tank 300 SUVs in Russia. Two versions of the crossover will be available for the local market: with front-wheel drive, a 1.5-liter 170-horsepower engine and a 7-speed robotic gearbox , as well as with all-wheel drive, a 2.0-liter 245-horsepower turbo engine and the same transmission. In Russia, the Jetour T2 is offered in only one configuration – with all-wheel drive and a 2.0-liter 245-horsepower turbo engine.
Plant «SaryarkaAvtoProm» already produces cars of several brands, including Chevrolet, Kia, JAC and Jetour. For Kia Sportage, small-unit production with painting and welding has been organized; the remaining models are assembled using the large-unit method.
Previously, the Chery company proposed tightening the rules for exporting cars from the Middle Kingdom. Chery believes that the current approach to exports has a negative impact on the image of Chinese cars abroad, and proposes a number of measures to improve it.
