Within 5-10 years
Russia will be able to photograph traces of American astronauts on the Moon within 5-10 years, as stated by the director of the Space Research Institute (SRI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Anatoly Petrukovich.
«Is it planned to photograph the American landing site on the Moon as part of the lunar program? In this sense, technology is developing, however, our interest is in scientific and applied problems. We are envisioning such a project within the framework of Luna-26, and if someone wants to remove traces of the Americans, let them launch a special satellite. I heard that there are similar private projects in Russia. Sooner or later we will photograph everything, I think, in 5-10 years – everything on the Moon will be photographed down to the last trace,” he said at a press conference dedicated to the upcoming Cosmonautics Day.
