The producer of the Dragon Quest series will move to Square Enix's mobile game development division, and will be replaced by producer Nier.

Bloomberg editors cite several reliable sources. Dragon Quest producer Yu Miyake, who has held his position since 1992, is leaving his post. The reason could be the postponements that affected Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Flate, the next main part of the series, announced in 2021.

Miyake received a new position – head of mobile development Square Enix games. His resignation was part of new Square Enix President Takashi Kiryu's plan to overhaul the production line of Square Enix studios by relying less on outside support and more on internal resources.

In the same Bloomberg report It is said that the role of Miyake will be taken by Yosuke Saito, producer of the Nier series. His resume also includes executive producer on Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of a Lost Age, Babylon's Fall and Final Fantasy 14.
