You will also not be able to use previously downloaded data
The German company SAP continues to leave Russia, tightening anti-Russian sanctions and this time promising to block Russians’ access to its cloud services. From March 20, users will no longer be able to use the company’s services or even access previously downloaded data in the cloud.
Until March 2022, SAP had about 1.5 thousand clients in Russia, including most companies in the oil and gas, chemical, metallurgical and engineering industries. Since the beginning of 2024, the company has stopped supporting software for its customers in Russia, leaving only access to cloud services.
However, despite this, according to various studies, 60% of Russian companies continue to use SAP products, and up to 70% of them do not plan to abandon them in the future due to large investments in integration. In addition, a worthy domestic replacement for the products of this German company has not yet been found.
For these companies, it will be difficult to find a replacement for SAP cloud services, especially on such a short notice. This means that those who continued to use SAP services despite the sanctions imposed will face a number of problems.
Back in September 2023, SAP sent letters to its partners notifying them that they would no longer support their software until December 31, 2023.
