Qualcomm is clearly very interested in the prospects of the RISC-V architecture. First it became known that the new Snapdragon Wear platform will be based on this architecture, and now it is reported that Qualcomm, together with other companies, is creating a company called Quintauris, which will develop «next generation hardware» based on RISC-V architecture. 

Quintauris was created by Qualcomm, Bosch, Infineon, Nordic Semiconductor and NXP Semiconductors. Given that RISC-V is open source, any company can use the architecture to create something new. 

The website of the newly formed company says that initially it will focus on the automotive industry, but then will move on to mobile solutions and the Internet of things.
