Worth waiting for comments from the authorities

The current rules for parallel import of cars are valid until February 1, 2024, but there is no information about their extension: dealers say they are waiting for clarification from the government.

If the current order is not extended, legal entities will no longer have the opportunity to use a simplified scheme for legalizing individual cars through ZOETS, as reported by 74.ru.

The source suggests the possible closure of the option for importing cars from Kyrgyzstan. Currently, this is one of the key transit points for importing cars into Russia, which allows Russians to purchase them at lower prices than from official dealers.

Already in August last year, individuals were limited in parallel imports through the regulation of recycling fees, and now, at reduced rates, they are allowed to import no more than one car per year.

Since October 1 last year, Russia stopped issuing ZOETS for cars of brands officially represented on the Russian market. The exception was made by manufacturers from unfriendly countries indicated in the list of goods for parallel import compiled by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
